"Dumpster fire." "Cancelled." "Sh*tshow." Have you heard or used these words and phrases used to describe 2020? Yeah, us too.

It's understandable. Between the seemingly never-ending pandemic and election season, it's easy (and normal) to fall into despair from time to time.

And yet... it's very possible to find small moments of joy, if you look for them. More than ever, it's important to find reasons to be joyful, and to really relish in those moments. It is, in fact, the only way to power through the next several months of colder weather, Daylight Savings, politics, and all the rest.

Here are some of the ways our team has found joy lately:
  • "In line, miserable at the grocery store, one of my jams started playing over the speakers. I couldn't help but do a little dance and shared a moment with a stranger who loved that song too."
  • "OMG yes to grocery store jams!! Aerosmith's 'Jaded' came on the other day, and I sang to myself under my mask, and no one could tell!"
  • "Music does it every time for me too. I listen to Wu-Tang Clan to get out of my mental funk."
  • "Exercise for 30 minutes every day helps. I'm on day 12."
  • "I've been collecting house plants. I'm up to 18, and I love the ritual of watering them. It's relaxing and kind of productive, but it feels like self-care while taking care of something else."
  • "Organizing my pantry! My partner wanted it to look like a grocery store. And I am an organizing goddess. When I can't control external factors, I control my pantry."

I want to hear from you! How are you finding joy right now?
