Was that the longest January on record? Mathematically speaking, there were no more hours in January of this year than any other year prior, but the answer, somehow, is YES.

From one weird event/meme/trend to another and another, it was hard to keep track of everything going on while going about our usual lives, so no one would blame you if your goals and intentions for the new year have already fallen by the wayside. (It happens to the best of us, under even the best of conditions, and these conditions are anything but.)

Many argue you shouldn't start setting goals until February, after the holidays are long behind you. It helps that it's a short month, neatly broken up into exactly four weeks.

In any case, the start of a new month, which falls on a Monday no less, is a great time to reevaluate and refocus your efforts. Maybe instead of setting five goals, you set just one easy one you can build off of after accomplishing it. For example, "walk 30 minutes every single day" might be really hard for someone who rarely goes for a walk, especially if you also have a goal to cut out carbs, abstain from alcohol, and lose ten pounds. But "go outside every day"? That's easy to do—and once you're outside, you might as well go for a walk.
