Recognizing Indigenous Peoples' Day
Many states have ditched Columbus Day in favor of Indigenous Peoples' Day, and we're here for it.
Here's why more people are celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day.
Interested in learning the origin story of the land you're standing on, or of someplace else in the country? Check out Native Land, an interactive map that shows you which Native people lived in or are from the area, the treaties that affected how that land was taken, and the languages spoken there.
The Ohlone are the predominant Indigenous group of the Bay Area, and there's a pretty interesting article linked in our "News" section to the left about a voluntary tax for non-indigenous people here in the East Bay. (Last year the program brought in $80,000 in voluntary contributions!)
Looking for other ways to show up for Native Americans? Here are 12 Native-owned food businesses and 7 Native-owned brands and artisans you can support.
