Every New Year gives us new beginnings vibes. A fresh slate, an opportunity for improvement and upgrades and we all collectively strive to do better. It’s a cold, reflective, time to look inward and reset, make big goals, appreciate the good parts and be overly critical about where we fell short.
There are so many specific veins we could look into as we discuss predictions for the upcoming year, things that are interesting and impactful and relevant to 2024.
As it becomes a bigger deal in our lives every year, we are going to chat about 2024 social media predictions.

Have Ya'll ever been on Threads? Ever considered joining it? Using it regularly? No? Neither has anyone else.
Prediction number one: Threads officially wrap it up.
-It was worth a try, but the X bluster and headline grabbing madness if 2023 just stayed hugely relevant and Threads did not. X has hundreds of millions of users, and it’s no easy task to bait that many folks without anything of interest bringing them there. Threads will stay behind in 2023.
Prediction number 2 is a fun one, and that is that there will be upgraded merit given to seniors in the world of social media influencer faces.
-Based off the large success of Golden Bachelor and Mrs. Martha Stuart on the cover of Sports Illustrated, there is an interested audience at hand. People are attracted to the authenticity and expertise of older content creators. It’s not flashy and thirsty- it’s less annoying and folks are here for it in 2024.
Third prediction is bringing us back to talkin’ bout Twitter.
-Word for 2024 is Twitter stays very much alive and thriving. It is predicted that some big changes are coming, for instance the current CEO will be ousted. The name X will go in the garage and Twitter will be back in play. Elon will sell Twitter, if not this year within the next 24 months. Big changes, but no dip in popularity.
Prediction 4 is that Facebook live will cease to exist.
-The live feature was brought on during the pandemic and it gets very little play these days. Going forward the trend will be well curated long form video content. The option to watch high quality videos made with the ability to deep dive via links to YouTube channels and more information.
The 5th prediction is that brands and agencies will require more online assurance of safety and protection.
-There have to be strict guidelines around integrity in a landscape where AI for example threatens the ability to understand clearly what is and is not real.
Oh man, we thought the last election season presented muddy waters, how in the world will we sort out truth and reality. There have to be firewalls built to keep some interference at bay.
Next, we are all familiar with the job title of creative director, it is predicted going into 2024 this will be overshadowed by a new angle. The freshest of agencies will hire in-house content creators in place of stale advertising strategies as a full-time internal position.
Lastly the metric for success will shift from number of likes to watch time as video content reigns supreme in the New Year. The shifting tech world will be a big source of newness, both in positive and questionable ways this upcoming year. It is in a way growth, and something to watch and monitor as changes occur. Keeping on top of the advancements will help us understand the rapid leaps especially AI will take this year. We will continue to live heavily in our social media worlds, and as the years tick by we can always expect to see shifts in key aspects, hopefully for the better!
