Tik-tok and Instagram have pushed out some major fashion trends that have heavily influenced both clothing and in-home design. Have you been following the clean girl trend? It was all about slicked back hair, decluttered homes, Sherpa chairs, chunky UGGs.

Fortunately that beige and basic fad is being edged out by some thing a lot more fun.

Enter the mob wife Era. Bye-bye Haley Bieber, hello Peggy Bundy, but like, who does some murder. The mob wife aesthetic is what it sounds like, it’s very jersey, bouffant hair, big gold jewelry, vintage for coats and red lipstick. In the very timely way these things often play out, the mob wife era has popped on the scene at the exact same time as we are ringing in the 25th anniversary of the Sopranos TV series. If you have never watched the Sopranos, there is still time to save yourself. Stop what you’re doing and waste no more time, as we talk about social/cultural trends, the Sopranos was monumental during it’s airing and has a lasting legacy.

The depth and layers of the main character Tony Soprano have inspired critics, fans and writers to pump out content exploring his genius and his depravity. He is a complicated pillar of his New Jersey family mafia business, and the way he runs his operation has spurred discussion and speculation that there in fact is a lot to learn from this dude. Outside of the murdering, he is a businessman and a captain of his team with leadership qualities we can really take away from.

So without further ado, I bring you five Commandments of Tony soprano.

And I urge you to explore how these rules to live by not only make possible a successful mafia business, but spill over in a very relevant way into the world of real estate.

Commandment one is follow the same rules You expect others to.

Whether into the world of real estate in the way that you need and require the other party, whether they be buyer or seller or another agent, to approach and play out the entire transaction with the same level of integrity that you bring to the table.

Commandment two is don't take shit from anyone.

The Monday Team has taken on some super challenging property listings in the East Bay, a lot of other agents would have run from screaming. This rule allows the Monday Team to have success selling problem properties with tons of roadblocks and push back. Be scrappy, get creative, think outside the box and make those home sales happen!

Commandment three is action is better than inaction.

This one need no real explanation, the Monday team is all about making action happen, it is the lifeblood of the real estate business.

Commandment four is put your family first.

Family is a major catalyst when it comes to a big decision like buying or selling a home, whether it be downsizing for aging parents or grandparents or upgrading for more space for more kids’ family is a top reason why people take the leap to buy or sell.

Commandment five is mistakes are not free.

Man, oh man don’t we know it. Read through those disclosures people! Read through all your paperwork and take the time to get into that fine print. For most of us, purchasing a property will be the biggest investment of our lives. Don’t make the costly mistake of missing a key component to your contract or faulty detail of your property condition until after the close of escrow.

Well there you have it folks, you may have never intended to read an article about how lessons from the sopranos should inform your thoughts about real estate, but you just did, you’re welcome.

Seriously, go check out that Mob Wife trend, it will be a bright spot in your day.
