Are you crypto-curious or crypto-savvy?
Elon Musk's appearance on SNL over the weekend had Dogecoin fans excited. There were watch parties online, and the crypto coin's investors eagerly tracked the value of the cryptocurrency live.
Turns out the value fell almost 30% during the show. (As of writing, one Dogecoin is worth 51 cents, but that changes by the minute.)
Dogecoin started out as a spoof based on a meme (see left), but cryptocurrency is no joke. In fact, it's gaining in popularity with the masses. A recent "State of Crypto" report estimates that more than 19 million people will likely enter the crypto market very soon, and 14% of the U.S. population already invests in crypto.
While not too many people understand what crypto is and how it works very well, what people do seem to understand is this mainstream takeoff could have major implications for future values.
PayPal recently launched its own crypto service. Tesla accepts Bitcoin for payment on certain products and services. And, yes, some home sellers are even starting to accept Bitcoin as currency for their homes.
So tell me, are you a crypto investor, or are you crypto-curious? And where do you see this all heading?
