Here at the Monday Team, we’re pretty big on setting goals and intentions. And there’s nothing like a new year to inspire some renewed energy and clarity surrounding those goals.

Here are five ways to set yourself up to win in 2022:

  • #1. Get community support. - Who supports or encourages you? Who holds you accountable or (lovingly) calls you on your B.S.? Who will shout your name from the rooftops? Who will celebrate when you win?
  • #2. Look to your values. - The newness of our "new" ways of living and working during the pandemic has officially worn off. It's time to take stock of what really matters to you and prioritize what matters most: your relationships and the tasks that will bring about the most positive change. This will help you avoid falling back into your old ways or constantly putting off those needle-moving tasks.
  • #3. Expect uncertainty in order to thrive. - Rather than approaching your obstacles from a battlefield perspective, think like a surfer. As Fast Company writes, “Surfers don’t sit down and write up a game plan about how they’re going to tackle the waves. Instead, they come to recognize the sea for what it is: a living system of wave patterns whose frequencies and amplitudes they can come to recognize and navigate. Surfers read turbulence.” Adaptability and flexibility are the name of the game.
  • #4. Learn to recognize (and act on) opportunities. - Once you learn to look for opportunities, you’ll start to see them everywhere. The hard part? Acting on them. But that's the key to getting ahead. If you’re quicker to act than most, you’ll usually find yourself on top. These seven women are showing what it takes.
  • #5. Shoot for just one step ahead. (You’ll still reach the moon.) -  Rather than setting an insane goal and hoping you land somewhere in the vicinity, make your goal to improve by just 1%.

Seems ridiculously low, right? But 1% repeatedly over time can make a huge difference. Just ask the British Bicyclists. After a terrible streak, they focused on improving by 1% and eventually won the Tour de France six times.

What goals do you have for 2022? How can we help you achieve them?
