2022 Year In Review! header image.
As we drink, eat and giftwrap our way into the last weeks of December it's easy to forget how close we are to the final days of 2022. The end of each year is such a poignant time, even during the last days of years that really sucked, there is some nostalgia, some appreciation for the sweet moments.

Culturally we are most definitely in a trend of “get this stupid year over with, good riddance”. It's understandable, we had a lot of crazy business go down over the past number of years here. There has been disruption and turbulence, and a lot of bad news. Things have gone in cringy directions, we have felt out of control at the wheel.

While we have a moment, we’re taking this opportunity to take a kinder, more rose-tinted perspective on the closing of 2022.

For the Monday Team, there were some great highlights and real accomplishments;

  • There were 4 Monday Team puppies rescued, 8 cats greeted at open houses, 208 team meetings attended, helped 40 buyers find new dream homes, helped 33 sellers find new owners for their previous dream homes.
  • We had 10 Monday Team VIP giveaways, so fun! There were 2 Monday Team VIP events, Tiki Drinks and Taco trucks. We gave over $6,000 to charity, and had over 23 Monday Team happy hours attended, self-care.
  • We hosted 511 open houses. There were 389,478 steps taken knocking on doors,31,987 letters and cards sent in the mail, 1,234,987 phone calls made and 7,097,345 emails/text messages read.
  • The highest home sale was at $2.2M (3781 Hobstone Pl, Dublin CA 94568). Lowest sale is at $359k (7625 Ney Ave Oakland CA 94605)
That’s what creating action looks like!

There were so many special and valuable moments in 2022.  We all know a beautiful baby born, an awesome family member who had a really fun birthday party, a friend who got to go on an amazing vacation. Weddings that were canceled due to covid finally happened this year. School was more normal, interactions between families and friends more frequent and more intimate. We gave and received more hugs, high fives and we danced and held hands. Physical touch had a comeback this year, along with concerts, theatre, leaving one's own damn house. These things might not have been headline but they're no slouch...

If we’re talking Headlines though, there were certainly a few!

Springtime brought that fierce and feisty housing market, sellers and buyers ran amuck with those elevated home values and it was a feeding frenzy out there.

Will Smith slapped the you know what out of Chris Rock, Russia invaded Ukraine, Inflation went bananas, Queen Elizabeth passed, the world population exceeded 8million people.  Johnny Depp- Amber Herd trial captivated us, Kanye West very publicly lost it. There were so many excellent podcasts, documentaries and new songs put out into the ether.

All of these opinions of excellence are so personal, many of us might think the top 20 best albums of 2022 in mainstream media are absolute garbage. The year-end means all the Best Of the lists coming down the pipeline.

With it is an opportunity to fill our que with new suggestions and raves. If you know of likeminded sources, that share your taste and values it can be an opportunity to expose yourself to all kinds of gems you could have missed. Best recipes, vacation spots, gardening advice, toothpaste.

Bring on the resolutions, the good intentions, the putting forward of ones best foot toward the New Year. Bring on the hope and optimism, the possibilities and opportunity and expansive unknowns of 2023.
